The company St. Anthonis Metaal B.V. was founded in 1985 by Theo Zegers. He started the company with one employee. Together they operated a few conventional lathes and milling machines in an old warehouse in the middle of the town of St. Anthonis, hence the former name St. Anthonis Metaal.
The number of machines and staff grew gradually, which resulted in a new premise taken into operation in Ledeacker in 1989. That year the switch was made to computer-controlled CNC machines. Customer demand to deliver a more complete package was the reason for starting our own assembly department. In the early nineties we started assembling complex modules. St. Anthonis Metaal started editing products through 5-axis machines in 1995. This activity caught on with customers and contributed to the distinctive character of the company. The demand for these 5-axis operations determined a large part of the production. This meant the necessity to timely invest in new machines. The initiated growth meant that the business location in Ledeacker became too small.
The decision was made to build new premises in Cuijk. In 2002, the move to Cuijk was realized and simultaneously the company name was changed to SAM Precision. A name that better reflects the activities of the company. A highlight in the history of the company was reached in 2004 when the first CNC machine with loading robot was put into operation at SAM Precision.
Currently, SAM Precision owns four of these production cells, making it possible to produce unmanned for 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Thanks to the courage to continuously invest in the latest production technologies, Theo Zegers, CEO of SAM, won the entrepreneurs price of the land of Cuijk and North Limburg in 2005.
